New Class: Digital Distressing

I'm planning on introducing a new workshop at Hannah Grey Studios in San Jose, tentatively set for the weekend of November 7th. It's a one-day class called Digital Distressing. In this class you'll learn how to take an ordinary digital photo and use the full version of Photoshop CS2 or later to put it through the wringer in evocative ways. You'll learn how to use grunge layers, adjustment layers, downloaded Photoshop brushes, layer masks, and vignetting to give a photo as much of a story as its subject.

It's not a beginner class; you'll need to bring a computer and a mouse (Mac or Windows is fine), and you'll need some basic familiarity with Photoshop and the computer itself. You'll need Photoshop CS2, CS3 or CS4 (You can download a free trial version from Adobe that will run for 30 days). The workshop runs from 10am to 5pm and the cost is $90; included in this fee is a USB flash drive containing course materials and a digital distressing toolkit with some of the resources I have made and pointers for where to find more.

Comment here or send email to mike [at] hannahgrey.com. Let me know which day that weekend you'd prefer.
